Copy the link to the individual Reel or post
Open the Reel or post itself, use its sharing menu, and copy the link. A profile address is not the same as a link to a specific item. If someone sends you a message containing a link and extra words, paste the message into SnappyDL; a recognizable supported URL can be picked out of that text.
The content must remain accessible to the downloader. A private profile, a deleted post, or a Story that has expired cannot be made public by pasting its address. SnappyDL does not need your Instagram password and does not unlock content that requires someone else’s account access.
Reels, carousel posts, and photo downloads
A Reel generally leads to video choices, while a photo post leads to image choices. For a supported carousel with multiple items, use the item selector in the results to move between the returned entries. Check each item before saving so you keep the image or clip you intended.
The available tabs follow the actual media returned for that link. A post may offer video, images, audio, or only a subset of those types. An absent audio tab means a separate audio file was not returned; it does not mean that every Instagram post can be converted into every possible format.
What the available quality labels mean
HD and SD keep things simple. Turn on Highest quality for more detail. Every available audio and image stays within reach. Available qualities depend on the source. Exact resolutions are shown with each file.
The source still sets the limit. SnappyDL cannot reconstruct a sharp original from a file that was already resized or compressed on Instagram. Resolution and file size are useful clues, but neither guarantees that a downloaded copy will have more detail than the source supplied.
Finding saved Instagram media on your device
After selecting a file, follow your browser’s download prompt. Desktop browsers usually save to a Downloads folder. On Android, look in the browser’s downloads or your file manager. On iPhone or iPad, check Safari’s download list and the Files app; saving from Files into Photos can be a separate action.
Use local history to return to a successfully processed post later. History stores the link and title in this browser, rather than acting as cloud storage for the images or videos themselves. Clear individual entries or the full list whenever you want.
A practical checklist for unavailable posts
Open the original link and confirm that it points to the intended public content. Copy a fresh share link if the address was shortened, truncated, or copied from an unrelated profile page. If the service asks you to wait, give the source time before trying again instead of submitting many requests in a row.
Only keep material you own or have permission to download. A saved Reel, photograph, or Story remains the creator’s work. Download availability does not remove copyright, privacy, or attribution responsibilities.
